Azerbaijan Visa for Filipino Travelers — Philippines to Azerbaijan Distance, Flights & e-Visa Guide

Azerbaijan has quietly become one of the most sought-after long-haul destinations for Filipino travelers — a country of maiden tower, temples, deserts and reef-fringed Caspian Sea coastline, all reachable on a single coherent itinerary. The Philippines and Azerbaijan are separated by roughly 9,200 kilometres in a straight line. Manila (MNL) to Baku (GYD) is approximately 9,250 km, which makes it a long-haul journey that almost always involves at least one stop. There are no non-stop flights between the two countries, but well-timed one-stop itineraries via the Gulf or Istanbul keep total travel time to a manageable 13 to 16 hours including a short layover. The Azerbaijan e-Visa is open to Philippine passport holders and can be applied for entirely online — no embassy visit, no paper file, no in-person interview for most tourist trips.
Manila to Baku — distances and flight times
From Manila, the most popular one-stop routings clock in at: Emirates via Dubai (14h 30m total), Qatar Airways via Doha (15h 00m), Etihad via Abu Dhabi (15h 30m) and Turkish Airlines via Istanbul (16h 00m). Cebu and Davao travelers can also connect through Manila or pick up a direct Gulf-bound flight from Cebu (CEB). For travelers heading to the Caspian Sea — Nakhchivan (NAJ), Ganja (KVD) or Lankaran (RMF) — the same airlines offer convenient onward connections from their hubs without needing to clear Azerbaijani immigration in Baku first.
Best one-stop airline options
Emirates via Dubai (DXB), Etihad via Abu Dhabi (AUH), Qatar Airways via Doha (DOH) and Turkish Airlines via Istanbul (IST) operate the most reliable connections between Manila and Baku. Saudia and Oman Air also offer competitively priced fares with longer layovers. Fares tend to be lowest in May, September and early February; the highest fares are around Holy Week, Christmas and the Filipino summer school break. Book at least eight weeks ahead during peak periods. For business travelers, Qatar Airways and Emirates offer same-day arrivals into Baku with morning meetings comfortably attainable.
Visa requirements for Filipino travelers
Philippine passport holders are eligible to apply for the Azerbaijan e-Visa online. The single-entry tourist e-Visa allows a stay of up to 30 days and is valid for 90 days from issue. The multiple-entry tourist e-Visa allows up to 30 days per entry and is valid for 180 days. You will need a passport valid for at least six months from your arrival date, a scan of the bio page, a passport-style photograph, your travel itinerary and a debit or credit card for payment. Azerbaijan Visit reviews each application line by line before submission to the Azerbaijani State Migration Service, which significantly reduces the chance of rejection from preventable causes such as date-format errors or unclear passport scans.
Planning your trip — a realistic itinerary
Given the long flight, Filipino travelers should plan at least 8 to 10 days on the ground to make the journey worthwhile. A popular itinerary looks like this: two nights in Baku (Icherisheher Old City, Maiden Tower, Flame Towers, Heydar Aliyev Center, Nizami Street), a short internal flight or scenic drive to Quba, two nights exploring Sheki and the Khan's Palace, a day at Gobustan rock carvings and the mud volcanoes, then back to Baku for the final flight home — with an optional two-night Caspian Sea extension to Lankaran or Ganja. October to April is the most comfortable season for sightseeing in Baku and Sheki; May to September is warmer but ideal for the Caspian coast.
Health, food and travel tips
Carry printed copies of your approved e-Visa, hotel bookings and return flight ticket — airline check-in staff sometimes ask to see them. Light cotton clothing is best for daytime in summer, but bring a warm layer for cool mountain evenings in Sheki and Quba and chilly air-conditioned interiors. Bottled water is widely available and is what we recommend throughout your stay. Filipino travelers are often pleasantly surprised by how familiar some Azerbaijani flavours are — grilled meats, rice dishes (plov), fresh flatbread and herb-led salads are everywhere, and most hotels can prepare halal-certified meals on request. Small Azerbaijani manat notes are useful for tipping, which is customary at hotels and restaurants.
Baku airport arrival for Filipino travelers
Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) is the primary entry point. After disembarking, follow signs to passport control, where the officer will scan your passport and retrieve your approved e-Visa electronically. There is no extra fee at the border if your e-Visa has already been issued. Currency exchange counters are inside the arrivals hall, but rates are usually better at ATMs in central Baku. Pre-booked hotel transfers are the most stress-free option for first-time arrivals; if you prefer to take a taxi, use only the official airport-marked taxis or Uber/Careem.
